Run to the Lights 2015

My stepmom and I did our first 5k together. We ran the Run to the Lights 5K at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO. This was by far the hardest 5K I have ever done. The hills were crazy! I did get lucky again and won a door prize. I won two gift certificates for a Chiropractor visit. That will be much needed in a few days!

Weekend Update

It was a nice weekend to be outdoors! Saturday Kevin and I went for a little hike to NARS.  NARS is in the middle of nowhere and we even had to cross the Buffalo river to get there. Very scary up top but definitely beautiful!

Crossing the Buffalo

Sunday my friend Deb and I went Mountain bike riding. We hit some trails in Branson MO. Good times and alot of bruises!

Weekend update

I had another first this weekend. I ran 6 miles on Saturday! I was soo proud of myself! I started off with my normal 3 miles. Once I finished my 3 miles I paused my watch and stopped for a drink at my car and decided to take off again to see if I could finish 6. The weather was perfect for August, it was 66 degrees. I finished feeling great! Then two hours later it all went downhill. I was nausea all day and then had a terrible headache. I'm thinking I pushed myself a little too hard and probably should have stuck with upping my mileage to 4 or 5 not 6. Lesson learned.

After my 6 mile run and not feeling good afterwards, my Saturday was pretty much ruined. I was too sick to do anything at all. But I woke up feeling great Sunday! Reggie and I had a date to go back to school shopping. Our shopping trip didn't last long. It was soo crowded in Branson that we couldn't even find a parking spot at Tanger Outlets soo we ditched shopping and went to White Water and rode Go Karts.

Weekend update

Friday night Katelynn and I decided to start some back to school shopping. It's crazy for me to think that I will have a high schooler!! Ugh! Makes me feel old lol

Saturday morning I woke up early and went to the gym for a 20 minute elliptical workout and an arm workout. Last week I focused on working out more and I can already see a difference. This has encouraged me even more. I found some more workouts this weekend to do this week. After the gym, I hit the local Farmer's market and loaded up on some goodies. Then the rest of the day I spent relaxing by the pool.

Sunday morning I decided to get in a 3 mile run and my goodness it was too hot. I basically ran in circles at the park just to stay in the shade.  After my run, I came home and did my meal prep for the week. This week I will be focusing on not only working out more but really cleaning up my eating. I do really good for the most part on eating healthy but a few times a week I eat sandwiches for lunch with a lot of tortilla chips. Soo this week there is not a single chip in my house LOL  Out of sight out of mind. This will be my lunch for the week. Grilled chicken breast, broccoli and grilled squash.

Weekend update

Saturday I ran in the Home of Hope 5K at the Branson Landing. It was the first race that this happened...

My watch and official time were different and the distance was longer than 3.1 miles. I don't know if my watch time was correct or the official time?! Oh well I survived! It was a hot one too! I may not do another race until September.  My official time was 41:43/mi 13:27/mi. I came in 4th in my age group and 44th overall.

After the race a friend and I went to Eureka Springs to have lunch and walk around. We went to my favorite Mexican Restaurant, Casa Colina. Oh my goodness they have the best crepes ever!!!

I just love the little town of Eureka Springs. There is always something to look at and lots of good places to eat!
Love this painting on the stairs

Weekend update

Friday night I did another first. I ran a 5K in a mohawk wig LOL The 5K was a glow run so no timing involved. Just a fun run for a good cause. We did get first place for the best costumes!

Saturday was clean the house day. I have neglected house work the past few weeks so I dedicated Saturday to stay home and work on that. Hubby and I even stayed home for our date night. We smoked ribs and just had a nice relaxing evening at home.

MID WEEK CATCH UP

I ran 5 miles on Monday morning! Huge accomplishment for me!I seriously never thought I would be running 3 miles let alone 5. I can tell each week that I am getting stronger. I have really been focusing on cross training lately. One of our local yoga places started offering BARRE this week so I did that on Tuesday. It was such a great class! I know the lady(Mary-my running mentor) that teaches the class and she makes it soo fun. I will admit I am very sore today but in all the right places.

My week so far:

Monday - 5 miles @ 11:18/mi
Tuesday - BARRE class
Wednesday - 3 miles which included Fartleks

I need to start browsing local races and get another one in the works.

Happy Friday and Big Cedar Weekend recap

Yay for Friday! And I am off work today and headed to OKC for a girls weekend!

The kids and I enjoyed a beautiful weekend at Big Cedar this past weekend. We did lots of pool hopping, fishing, eating and tons of other stuff. My favorite part of the weekend was Reggie naming me "The Worm Master". He was very impressed that I could put a worm on his hook.

Two weekends in a row and I won plane tickets!!

I signed up for Dash to Splash 5K in Branson MO about a month ago and realized about a week before the race that there was another 5K(Run for a Vet) at the same location soo I signed up for that one too. Both races were for a great cause so why not?!

Run for a Vet 6/13/15 Recap - I registered for this race the morning of. I get registered and take my packet back out to my car to put on my bib etc. Then I notice this card with holes and a bread tie. I had no clue what to do with it so I had to ask a random person in the parking lot on how to put my shoe tag on LOL Yep I am such a newbie at this. Overall I was proud of myself for finishing this race. To me, the course was hard. It had lots of rolling hills that really took a toll on me. But I finished! And I was 4th in my age group. Missed a medal by less than 4 seconds. Chip time:32:47. Pace:10:32

Run for a Vet 5K.

Dash to Splash 6/20/15 Recap - My goal for this race was to beat my time from last weekend. I knew the course now since I ran it last weekend and I had even made the drive to Branson one morning during the week to get a practice run in. And I did it! My Chip time was 31:06. Pace 10:00. 6th in my age group and 64th(out of 142) place overall. After you crossed the finish line you got to pick a prize off of the prize board. I ended up winning two round trip tickets to one of seven cities that Branson AirExpress flys to!!! I couldn't believe it!!!!

Dash to Splash fun!!

Still can't believe I won Airline tickets!

Next goal - Run a 5K in under 30 minutes.
